The Barrie Speedway is a motorsport racetrack opened in 1965 in Barrie, Ontario , Canada . When it opened, it was the first paved oval north of Toronto . The route was originally a 0.25-mile oval and the rest of the route configuration was comparable to the Martinsville Speedway at that time .

In 1999 the route was widened and the inclination in the curves increased. In the same year, the track owner of the Barrie Speedway changed. Since then, the route has been renewed. In 2004 the line was then completely modernized. The grandstands and pit lane have been changed and the track has been re-paved.
