The Riverside Speedway is a 0.53-kilometer motorsport circuit in Antigonish , Nova Scotia , Canada .

history

The Riverside Speedway opened in 1969. John Chisholm, a local entrepreneur, took over the running of the circuit. For many years the Riverside Speedway was the venue for a NASCAR Busch East Series race, so that well-known pilots like Benny Parsons also drove on it. In the 1980s, Chisholm sold the line to Derek Vandalin, who lived in the city of Antigonish. Vandalin operated the circuit until his death in 2005.

John Chisholm then bought the route back from the bereaved. Shortly afterwards, Chisholm started a major renovation project. The entire 0.53 kilometer racetrack was repaved. The former guard rails at the edge of the route were replaced by thick and stable concrete walls. In addition, the main stand was renovated and enlarged. Special zones have been set up for the press and celebrities.

In 2006, two “CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour” races and one “PASS North Super Late Model” race took place on the racetrack, and since 2007 the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour has been running three races a year on the racetrack. In addition, a race of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series , the former CASCAR, was held on the speedway in 2007 . Marc Dilley was the winner of this race .
