The Barssian Mosque and the Barssian Minaret ( Persian مسجد و مناره برسیان Masjed o Menare ye Barssian , [ mæsd͡ʒɛd o mɛnɑɾɛ jɛ bæɾsijɑn ]) are historical buildings in the Iranian province of Isfahan . Barssian, originally Parssian , is a village 42 km east of the city of Isfahan . Inscriptions say that the mosque was built in 1105 and the minaret in 1098 in the time of Berk-Yaruq , the Seljuk king. The minaret is the fourth oldest in Iran to have an inscription . It is 34 m high. The lower part is made of simple bricks , the upper parts are more decorated.
The Barssian Mosque has masterful stonework , a remarkable mihrab, and beautiful stucco . The brick decorations of the mosque and the covering of the dome are reminiscent of the Tajolmolk dome in the Friday mosque in Isfahan , which is why experts assume that they have the same architectural authorship. During the Tahmasp I era , an iwan and a courtyard were added to the north side of the mosque .
