Bartholome Zellweger

Bartholome Zellweger (born December 29, 1625 in Trogen ; † January 3, 1681 there ; entitled to live in Trogen) was a Swiss textile entrepreneur, long-time member of the Small Council and delegate from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Bartholome Zellweger was the son of Johannes Zellweger, landlord and landesseckel master , and Katharina Schiess. His brother was Conrad Zellweger . In 1649 he married Catharina Gruber, daughter of Johannes Gruber, national ensign. From 1664 to 1668 he officiated as Ausserrhoder regional cap master and from 1668 to 1681 as regional governor. From 1674 to 1679 he was delegate to the Diet . In 1667, Zellweger helped set up a canvas show in Trogen as a middleman for the Gonzenbach brothers in Hauptwil . He was active himself in the canvas trade from 1675 at the latest.
