Conrad Zellweger-Rechsteiner

Conrad Zellweger Rechsteiner (* 14. November 1630 in Trogen , † 18th January 1705 ibid ; heimatberechtigt in Trogen) was a Swiss textile manufacturer, councilor and longtime member of the Small Council of the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes .

Life

Conrad Zellweger-Rechsteiner was the son of Johannes Zellweger, landlord and master of the regional sack, and Katharina Schiess. He was the brother of Bartholome Zellweger . He married Anna Rechsteiner, daughter of Johannes Rechsteiner . From 1650 he was councilor of Trogen. From 1668 to 1681 he officiated as Ausserrhoder regional cap master and from 1681 to 1702 as regional governor. The successful screen show is said to have been set up in 1667 in the house of Zellweger, who also worked as a landlord. From 1675 at the latest, Zellweger operated his own linen trade. He was mainly active as a factor for the Hutsch trading house in Feldkirch . Together with his son Conrad Zellweger, he is considered to be the founder of the Zellweger trading company . This was very wealthy and owned stately properties in Trogen. To avoid being elected as Landammann , Zellweger stayed away from the Landsgemeinde in 1698 .
