Bartolomeo "Meo" Costantini (born February 14, 1889 in Vittorio Veneto ; † July 19, 1941 in Milan ) was an Italian aviator and racing car driver .

Career

From 1911 he served in the Italo-Turkish War and in the First World War he became known as a flying ace on a Société de Production des Aéroplanes Deperdussin .

From 1914 to 1917 Costantini was a racing driver for Aquila Italiana . In 1923 he moved to Bugatti , where he replaced Ernest Friederich , and in 1925 and 1926 he won the Targa Florio in Sicily as well as the Circuito Lasarte and the French Grand Prix . After the death of his friend Conte Giulio Masetti (1895–1926) at the Targa Florio in 1926, Costantini retired from active racing and then looked after the Bugatti works team as head. In this position he was replaced by Jean Bugatti in 1935 . He left the company in 1937.
