Bartolomeo Genga

Bartolomeo Genga (* 1516 or 1518 in Cesena , † July 1558 in Malta ) was an Italian painter and architect.

Life

Genga was the pupil of his father Girolamo Genga , went to Florence for further training in 1538 , later to Rome , became overseer of the state buildings of the Duchy of Urbino and as such completed the church of San Giovanni in Pesaro and the palace of Pesaro, which his father had begun .

He was especially known as a fortress builder; he was called to Malta to fortify it against the attacks of the Turks. Genga died in 1558.
