Bartonella rochalimae is a gram-negative bacterial species from the Bartonellaceae family. She wasisolatedat the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States in June 2007 .

Bartonella rochalimae is closely related to Bartonella quintana and Bartonella henselae . The name Bartonella rochalimae is derived from the Brazilian researcher Henrique da Rocha Lima . The bacterial species was accepted as a valid published name in 2012.
