From September 7 to September 16, 2007 took place in the Spanish city of Barcelona , the European Championship in baseball instead. This tournament also served as the European qualifying tournament for the XXIX. 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing . The three stadiums "Montjuïc", "Viladecans" and "Sant Boi" were the venues for the games. The Netherlands, who won their 20th title, became European champions.

In Group A, the teams from the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden qualified for the final round after 15 games. Croatia, Austria and the Czech Republic could not move into the next round.

The Czech Republic originally had two wins, but these were subsequently rated 9-0 for the opponents. The reason for this was that three major league baseball players in the Czech team did not have the necessary playing rights.

In Group B, the teams from the United Kingdom, Spain and France qualified for the final round after 15 games . Surprisingly, the Italian team, which won the silver medal at the European Championships in 2005, could not qualify for the final round and finished the tournament in seventh place. Ukraine and Russia were also unable to advance to the next round.
