The 2001 European Baseball Championship was the 27th European Baseball Championship . The final round took place from July 28 to August 5, 2001 in Bonn , Cologne and Solingen . European champions became the defending champions Netherlands , who were able to beat Russia 4-0 in the final . Host Germany came in seventh. Sweden and the Ukraine are relegated to group B in eleventh and twelfth respectively.
The EM was also the qualifying tournament for the 2003 World Baseball Championship in Cuba, for which the four semi-finalists qualified.
Venues
After 1957 in Mannheim and 1969 in Wiesbaden , Germany hosted the EM baseball for the third time. In addition to the Rheinaue baseball stadium, which was converted for DM 1.05 million in the Rheinaue leisure park in Bonn , where the opening game and final took place, the Cologne riding and baseball stadium and the Weyersberg baseball park in Solingen were the venues for the tournament.
