Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré
The Basilique de Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is a basilica located around 30 kilometers northeast of the city of Québec . The Roman Catholic church in the village of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré on the banks of the Saint Lawrence River is visited by around half a million pilgrims every year , making it one of the most important pilgrimage sites in North America.
history
The place of pilgrimage originally consisted of a chapel built in 1658 with a shrine to honor St. Anne . Several miracles and healings have been attributed to this place since its foundation . A second stone and wood chapel was built between 1661 and 1676. A third sacred stone building was added in 1676, which was replaced by a basilica in 1876. This received on January 28, 1887 by Pope Leo XIII. the title of a minor basilica . The old church was demolished in 1878.
On March 29, 1922, a fire destroyed the original basilica. It was replaced by the current building in neo-Gothic style, which was completed in 1926. The Archbishop of Québec Maurice Roy blessed the Church on July 4, 1976. Pope John Paul II visited the Shrine of Saint Anne on September 10, 1984.

organ
The large organ in the stands was built in 1945 by the organ builder Casavant and restored in 1986 by the organ builder Marcel Bertrand. The instrument has 44 stops on three manual works and a pedal. The playing and stop actions are electro-pneumatic.
