Bass Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in Starke County , Indiana . According to the 2000 census, the place had 1249 inhabitants and an area of 29.2 km², of which 5.5 km² (18.95%) was water. A post office was established in 1892. The name is derived from a nearby lake that is populated by many perch.
