Bastian Fuchs (legal scholar)

Bastian Fuchs (born November 12, 1974 ) is a German legal scholar.

Life

After graduating from high school and completing his military service, Fuchs studied law for 7 semesters at the University of Augsburg and then passed the first state examination in law. After his legal clerkship and the 2nd state examination in Bavaria, he specialized as a lawyer in all construction and architectural law with a focus on civil engineering, tunneling and civil engineering law. In 2003/2004 he did his doctorate with Gerd Motzke at the University of Augsburg with a topic on building neighbor law. jur., then he studied for a year in San Diego ( USA ) and completed his master’s degree with a comparative law thesis on American and German building site and civil engineering law. Then completed Fuchs in New York , the attorney trained as an attorney-at-law (New York) and returned to study visits to Japan and the People's Republic of China back to Germany, where he in 2005 as one of the youngest lecturer at a German university as part of the Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich under Prof. Dr. Conrad Boley received a teaching position on civil engineering law and international building law. After ten years, on October 1, 2015, Federal Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen appointed Fuchs an honorary professor at this university because of his scientific expertise.

His publications and seminars on building law topics led to his appointment to the board of the Center for German and International Building Ground and Civil Engineering Law (CBTR) until 2017 and to the German standardization committee - working group DIN EN 1997 - 2 (successor standard DIN 4020 geotechnical investigations for structural purposes) . Since October 2015, Fuchs has also been on the board of the German Association for Building Law, whose International Building Law working group he has headed since 2011.

Fuchs is partner and managing director of a law firm specializing in building law in Munich, Ingolstadt , Pfaffenhofen / Ilm, Nordhausen and Schrobenhausen . Since 2002, Fuchs has also held the office of city councilor and parliamentary group leader in the Mittelzentrum Schrobenhausen. From 2002 to 2014 he was also the city's cultural advisor. Fuchs is also active in the cooperative sector, initially as a member of the supervisory board, since 2006, deputy chairman from 2009 and chairman in 2011 of the former Volksbank Schrobenhausen.
