Bastian Kresser (born January 3, 1981 in Feldkirch ) is an Austrian writer.

Life

Bastian Kresser grew up in Götzis in Vorarlberg . He studied English and American studies at the Leopold-Franzens University in Innsbruck and at the University of Bangor , Wales , where he attended several creative writing workshops.

In 2011, together with Michael Köhlmeier , he translated poems by Wallace Stevens , which were published in 2012 in the poetry anthology “Hellwach, am Rande des Schlaf” by Carl Hanser Verlag . In 2013 his debut novel Ohnedich was published by Limbus in Innsbruck, for which he received the Achensee LiteraTour grant in 2014. In 2016 his novel Piet was also published by Limbus Verlag . His third novel The Other Side was published by Braumüller Verlag in 2019 . The novel deals with the refugee crisis in seven intertwined stories .

Kresser texts appeared in various literary magazines, a. a. Akzente (Munich); Karussell (Wuppertal), mosaik (Vienna), anthology for the 4th Bubenreuth literary competition .
