Batatzes
The Byzantine officer family Batatzes (or Vatatzes) provided three Eastern Roman emperors in the 13th century , initially in Nikaia , later in Constantinople : John III. (1222-1254), Theodor II (1254-1258) and John IV (1258-1261). Since Theodor II (also) carried his mother's family name, Laskaris , the younger generations of Batatzes are usually led under the name Laskaris.
