Batken ( Kyrgyz and Russian Баткен ) is a city in southwest Kyrgyzstan ( Central Asia ).
It is located about 240 km west of the city of Osh in the immediate vicinity of the Tajik border. According to calculations, there were 10,155 inhabitants in the city of Batken in 2019.
The Batken settlement was founded in 1934 as the center of the newly created Batken Rajon within the Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic . Since 1999 it has been the administrative center of the Batken area , which was separated from the Osh area at that time .
There is an airport in Batken , which is served by the Kyrgyzstan airline in Kyrgyzstan.
