Battlefield was a German power and thrash metal band from Freiberg am Neckar and Ludwigsburg , Baden-Württemberg , which was founded in 1987 and separated again around 1993.

history

The band was founded in January 1987 by guitarists Arthur Schilling and Frank Nitti. A short time later, drummer Gerd Haussmann, bassist Andi Rückle and singer Corinna “Conny” Ernst joined them. In the same year the EP We Come to Fight was released on their own label TRC Records. After the label went bankrupt, the demo Time to Rethink followed in 1990 . Then singer Ernst joined the band Ivanhoe and was replaced by Tanja Ivenz. This was followed by the debut album Still and Ever Again in 1991 via Rising Sun Records . The second album followed in 1993 on the same label under the name Spirit of Time . Then bassist Patrick Renner and drummer Stephan Fiedler could be heard as new members. Shortly after the release, Fiedler dropped out, and although they were looking for a successor and had another album in the pipeline, the band went towards the breakup. Battlefield played with groups like Psychotic Waltz , Gypsy Kyss and Life Artist throughout her career .

style

The band played a mixture of power and thrash metal, with female vocals being a special feature. Right from the start, attempts were made to write good song lyrics despite the admitted cliché name, initially mainly anti-war texts, later by Ivenz texts about alienation in prosperity, life in a wheelchair and the suffering of women in war.
