The Baursberg in the Hamburg district of Blankenese is 91.6 m above sea level. NN after the Hasselbrack (116.2 m above sea level) the second highest elevation in the Hanseatic city. At its summit, on a park-like area, is the Baursberg waterworks , which went into operation in 1859 and which still supplies parts of the west of Hamburg (including the districts of Blankenese and Othmarschen ) with drinking water. While the treatment of the Elbe water was originally in the foreground, since 1960 only groundwater has been pumped. Since 1990 the wells have been protected by a water protection area.
