Bauyrshan Abbdishev

Bauyrschan Tüiteiuly Äbdischew ( Kazakh Бауыржан Түйтейұлы Әбдішев , Russian Бауржан Туйтеевич Абдишев ; born June 3, 1968 in Atassu , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician.

Life

Bauyrshan Abbdishev was born in 1968 in Atassu in Karaganda Oblast . He graduated from the Polytechnic Institute in Karaganda in 1993 as a mechanical engineer. In 1998 a degree in economics followed from the Karagandy State University and in 2005 a degree from the Russian Customs Academy.

From 1992 to 1995 he worked for the transport company of the city of Karagandy , where he was responsible for the bus fleet. Between 1995 and 1999 he was inspector, chief inspector and then head of the customs department of the Karagandy Region. Subsequently, in 1999, he was deputy head of customs administration in the Qostanai region and then in the Karagandy region. From 1999 to 2002 he was Deputy Head of Customs Protection and the Customs Committee of the Ministry of State Revenue. Between February 2002 and July 2003 he held the post of Head of Customs Administration of the Pavlodar Region and then from July to October 2003 Deputy Chairman of the Customs Inspectorate of Kazakhstan and Deputy Chairman of the Customs Control Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Finance. Then he was deputy chairman of the innovation committee of the ruling Nur Otan party . From January 2010 to September 2012, Abdishev was mayor of Karagandy before serving as Kazakhstan's Deputy Environment Minister for a few months. On January 29, 2013 he was appointed Äkim (governor) of the Karagandy region. He held this post until June 2014.

On September 24, 2014, Abdishev was arrested on suspicion of corruption . He was one of a total of 21 politicians, including the former Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov and the former Mayor of Qaraghandy Meiram Smaghulov , who were indicted in one of the largest corruption trials in Kazakhstan. In December 2015, he was sentenced to five years in prison by a court in Karaganda. In April 2016, his sentence was reduced to three years and he was paroled a month later.
