The Bay of Sails ( English for Bay of Sails ) is a shallow bay on the Scott coast of East Antarctica Victoria Land . It is located between the Spike Cape and Gneiss Point .
The so-called Western Group around the British geologist Thomas Griffith Taylor (1880-1963) took the name in the course of the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913). It was named after the fact that the group had hoisted sails on their sled on the sea ice at the entrance to the bay in order to use the wind to move faster.
