The Bavarian Swimming Association e. V. (BSV for short) is the association with the largest number of members in the German Swimming Association after the North Rhine-Westphalia Swimming Association and one of the largest of the 52 Bavarian sports associations. According to statistics from the Bavarian State Sports Association , it has 90,974 members in 358 clubs (as of 2013). Of these, around 8,000 athletes had a competition license, 90% for swimming, 5% synchronized swimming, 4% water polo and 1% water jumping. The BSV is a full member of the German Swimming Association (DSV) and a member of the Bavarian State Sports Association e. V. (BLSV). The BSV is based in Munich.

history

The association was founded on February 4, 1946 in Munich. It is the amalgamation of clubs that practice swimming and that belong to the Bavarian State Sports Association e. V. belong.

The BSV belongs to the southern regional group of the German Swimming Association . It is subordinate to the German Swimming Federation at national level , to the Ligue Européenne de Natation (LEN) at European level and to the Fédération Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA) at global level .
