Bavarian Soldiers Association

The Bavarian Soldiers Association 1874 e. V. (BSB) is one of the larger communities of former soldiers in Germany and an interest group of like-minded people , with more than 60,000 members ( reservists of the Bundeswehr and former soldiers of the Wehrmacht and the Bundeswehr) organized in over 1,000 locally affiliated local comradeships and local associations in Bavaria . It has committed itself to the common good , non-partisanship and the welfare of the German people and Bavaria. The association's president is currently Colonel a. D. Richard Drexl .

tradition

As the successor organization of the Royal Bavarian Warrior League in 1874, the association is rooted in its tradition, but at the same time as the recognized state soldiers' association of Bavaria, it is oriented towards the present and the future.

aims

The statutory goals of the association are to actively advocate for the state, homeland and fatherland, to preserve the memory of the fallen, to stand up for the honor of German soldiers, to promote military readiness, to support the Bundeswehr in solidarity and to maintain and cultivate military virtues and traditions.

structure

The regional association - based in Munich - is a registered non-profit association ; the district and district associations are organs of the regional association. The BSB is represented in all administrative districts and almost all rural districts and cities in the Free State of Bavaria. More than 1,000 independent registered associations and comradeships at local level with a total of over 60,000 members are affiliated with the BSB. This means that an association of the BSB operates in almost half of the approximately 2,050 municipalities in Bavaria. Associations and fellowships of the BSB can also be found in other federal states.

organs

Organs of the BSB are the state assembly, the presidium, the board of directors, the arbitration tribunal and the subdivisions at the district and district level.

Social work

The BSB operates its own social welfare organization. It is recognized as non-profit and benevolent and offers financial help on request for personal support of needy and distressed comrades and their relatives. Likewise for the preservation and care of monuments for the fallen and for the preservation and restoration of historical club flags. Made possible by investment income and donations, around € 30,000 can be distributed annually.

magazine

The BSB publishes the association's own magazine loyal comrades six times a year . The magazine focuses on political and historical articles as well as military, security and socio-political topics. In addition, information from the Bundeswehr and association life is published. The edition is 4,000 copies, it appears six times a year.
