education and profession

After finishing elementary school in Weil, Richard Drexl completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter at the Federal Railroad in Augsburg (1966–1970). He then attended the vocational school in Landsberg am Lech (1968–1971) and then the technical college in Augsburg, which he graduated in 1972 with the technical college entrance qualification.

In 1972 Drexl joined the Bundeswehr as an officer candidate in Fürstenfeldbruck . After training to become an officer in the troop service , he completed a degree in aerospace engineering at the Bundeswehr University in Neubiberg . He completed his studies in 1976 as a graduate engineer .

This was followed by assignments as a technical officer in the helicopter transport wing 64 and in the air transport wing 61 in Penzing (1976-1981). In the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) in Bonn he worked from 1981 to 1986 as a clerk for armaments projects for the Air Force. Drexl was then a staff officer in what was then Fighter Bomber Wing 34 in Memmingen from 1986 to 1993 . Drexl ran for the local council in his place of residence Trunkelsberg as early as the early 1990s, but was unable to deepen this commitment for professional reasons. In 2012 he joined the Free Voters (FW), candidacies for the Bundestag and the Bavarian State Parliament in 2013 were unsuccessful.
