Rudolf Koch-Erpach

Rudolf Koch , Koch-Erpach since 1939 (born April 9, 1886 in Munich , † November 27, 1971 in Boll ), was a German officer , most recently a general of the cavalry in World War II .

Life

family

He was the son of the Bavarian Major General Anton Koch (1854–1926). Koch married Emmy Dacqué in 1908. The marriage had two children.

Military career

Koch attended a humanistic grammar school and in 1904 joined the 2nd Uhlan regiment "King" of the Bavarian Army as a flag junior . There he became a lieutenant in 1906 and in 1910 he was transferred to the 6th Chevaulegers regiment “Prince Albrecht of Prussia” . From 1912 Koch graduated from the War Academy , which he had to abandon early due to the outbreak of the First World War . After the end of the war, Koch was accepted into the Reichswehr . As a general staff officer , he was a member of the staffs of various units and was appointed commander of the 8th Infantry Division in 1935. In 1942 Koch-Erpach was commander of military district VIII in Breslau and in the last days of the war he was in charge of the 1st Army .
