Beata Kowalska (2018)

Beata Kowalska is a Polish sociologist and professor at the Institute of Sociology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow .

Scientific activity

Kowalskas completed his habilitation in 2013 with a thesis on women in the Kingdom of Jordan ; her research interests lie in the areas of feminist sociology, development research and post-colonial studies . In recent years, she has dealt particularly with Muslim feminism and the situation of women in countries in the Middle East. Another area is gender studies . Kowalska is committed to gender equality in Poland.

The rector of the Jagiellonian University honored her teaching activities in 2010/11 with the main prize Pro Arte Docendi .

Scholarships and lectures have taken Kowalska to Cambridge University , the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna, the American Center for Oriental Research in Amman , the New School for Social Research in New York, Rutgers University, and the University in Buffalo .
