Beate Brocker

Beate Bröcker (born March 5, 1956 in Osnabrück ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She has been State Secretary in the Ministry of Social Affairs of the State of Saxony-Anhalt since April 2016 and previously held this position from October 2009 to September 2013.

Life and work

After studying economics in Münster until 1979 and doing a few positions as a training and career advisor in the labor administration in Osnabrück, Bröcker worked in the Ministry of Social Affairs in Saxony-Anhalt in 1991, initially as a consultant, later as a department head and deputy head of labor market policy.

Bröcker has been a member of the SPD since 1988.

From 2002 to 2008 she was councilor for youth, social affairs and health in the state capital Magdeburg . From 2008 she worked as a freelance management consultant in the social economy. On October 5, 2009 she was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs ( Böhmer II cabinet ). She succeeded Christiane Dienel , who was recalled on September 28, 2009.

As part of the formation of a government after the state elections in 2011, the Ministry of Social Affairs was expanded to include labor. From April 20, 2011, Bröcker was State Secretary in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs headed by Norbert Bischoff . On September 26, 2013, she resigned due to internal differences and was given temporary retirement. In April 2016, she took over the office again under the new Labor and Social Affairs Minister Petra Grimm-Benne .
