Beatplanet is a retro pop formation founded in Berlin in 2003 .

Band history

The band was originally founded as a trio by Sven 'Remmidemmi' Rathke, Martin 'Gotti' Gottschild and Jan 'Kawumm' Kertscher (members of the band Sofaplanet ) in 2003. Until the beginning of 2004 the trio with Anne 'Uschi' Müller, Kristina 'Babsi' Endruweit, Markus 'Mumpe' Maaz and Stefan 'Fuchs' Funke grew into a septet. At the beginning of June 2004 they appeared in this formation for the first time in front of an audience in the Garage Pankow in Berlin. They sold an EP with seven songs at their concerts. In 2005 Daniel 'Zacki' Zimniak replaced the previous saxophonist Markus 'Mumpe' Maaz geht.

On May 5th, 2006 they release their debut album Wer beatet mehr? at Mondaine Brigade. Matthias 'Matjes' Wyder joined the band in September 2006 as a further reinforcement on the saxophone. The first continuous tour followed at the end of September 2006. During this tour, the follow-up album Komm on Bord was already being worked on and released on February 9, 2007 by Brigade Mondaine. Beatplanet took part in Stefan Raab's Bundesvision Song Contest for the federal state of Brandenburg on February 9, 2007 with the single film Turn around and go and took 15th (penultimate) place. April 2007 the singer and actress Selda 'Gitti' Kaya was won as a new member for the women's choir. In the course of the “Es wird tight” tour of the Berlin band Die Ärzte 2007/08 Beatplanet appeared as the opening act.

Since 2008 Sven Rathke has also been successful solo under the pseudonym Sven van Thom .
