Beatrix Schwarzböck-Fischer , b. Macher (born February 6, 1808 in Timisoara , Austrian Empire , † September 16, 1885 in Karlsruhe ) was a celebrated soprano who appeared on important European stages in the 19th century.

Life

The singer was trained in Vienna and made her debut in 1823 under the name of her stepfather (Schwarzböck) at the Theater an der Wien . In October 1825 she married the actor Karl Fischer . From Easter 1826 to 1827 the couple was engaged in Brno, from April 1827 to February 1828 at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna and from Easter 1828 to December 1830 at the Stadttheater Aachen. Her husband took over the management there in 1829/30. As a guest she appeared in Aachen many times (August 21 - September 2, 1832 / May 29 - June 25, 1835 / July 18 - August 9, 1842). After her time in Aachen, she worked as a singer in Paris from 1829–31 and delighted the audience there. She sang among others Agathe and Rezia, alternating with W. Schröder-Devrient. From 1831 her path then led to the court theater in Karlsruhe, where she was committed for life. She sang the Rezia in the first performance there of Oberon on April 8, 1833 (her husband gave the Babekan); from there they took further guest performances to Vienna (June / July 1834) and in spring / summer 1840 to London. In February 1854 she retired.
