Beatriz Roldán Cuenya

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Beatriz Roldán Cuenya (* 1976 in Oviedo ) is a Spanish physicist who deals with surface physics and catalysis . Since 2017 she has been director at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin and "Scientific Member" of the Max Planck Society.

Professional career

Roldán Cuenya studied at the University of Oviedo in Spain and did his doctorate at the University of Duisburg-Essen . She worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara and then became a professor at the University of Central Florida in Orlando (Florida) . In 2013 she accepted an offer from the Ruhr University Bochum to the Faculty of Physics and was co-opted by the Faculty of Chemistry . Roldán Cuenya has been director at the Fritz Haber Institute since 2017, where she heads the department for interface science.

Her main interests are the synthesis of nano- structured materials with adjustable surface properties, the investigation of structure-activity relationships with operando methods and electrocatalysis for the clean storage and conversion of energy.
