The Beaufort Range is a section of mountain range in the southern part of Vancouver Island , British Columbia , Canada . It is north of Port Alberni in the Alberni Valley and west of Qualicum Beach . Beaufort Range covers an area of 647 km 2 and belongs to the Vancouver Island Ranges , which in turn are part of the Insular Mountains.
The highest mountain in the Beaufort Range is Mount Joan with an elevation of 1,556 m (5105 ft)
