The Beeckerwerther Bridge spans the Rhine between the Duisburg districts of Beeckerwerth and Baerl . The bridge is 1030 m long in total, has three lanes for each lane as well as a cycle and footpath downstream. The overpass with a two-hip cable-stayed bridge in the river area is part of the federal motorway 42 , the Emscherschnellweg, and is therefore also called the Rhine Bridge Emscherschnellweg .
The planning approval decision for the motorway was made in June 1980. This was confirmed by the OVG Münster at the end of 1985 and became legally effective at the end of June 1986. The bridge was built between July 1986 and October 1990 at a cost of 134 million DM.
construction
The structure has 15 fields and is 1030 m long. The spans are 6 × 50.0 m - 310 m - 8 × 52.5 m (from west to east). In the longitudinal direction, the continuous beam is the structural system of the superstructure, the resting point is the western pillar of the river, expansion joints are only present at the abutments .
The current field is bridged with a double-sided cable - stayed bridge. It consists of a steel superstructure with a 17.15 m wide three-cell box girder cross-section and a 40.95 m wide orthotropic deck . The construction height is 3.77 m. Cross members and diagonal struts at a distance of 4.19 m support the maximum 13.0 m cantilevered road construction.
The two steel pylons of the cable-stayed bridge are in the central axis of the bridge and are 66.7 m high. At the bottom they are 2.85 m wide in the longitudinal direction of the bridge and 2.0 m across. For architectural reasons, the cross-sectional dimensions increase to 5.05 m and 2.674 m respectively. Three harp-shaped rope groups are anchored in the pylons on both sides.
The side sections of the bridge have a prestressed concrete superstructure with a 17.25 m wide three-cell box girder cross-section and a 40.95 m wide deck. The construction height is 3.6 m. Diagonal struts at a distance of 2.93 m support the maximum 12.6 m overhanging carriageway construction. The prestressed concrete superstructures of the secondary fields are rigidly connected to the steel superstructure of the power field in the pylon axes.
