Befort ( Luxembourgish Beefort , French Beaufort ) is a municipality in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and is located in the canton of Echternach . The localities Befort, Grundhof and Dillingen belong to the municipality of Befort .
Worth seeing
Befort is the tourist center of the Mullerthal region, also known as Luxembourg's Little Switzerland , near Echternach . The main attraction of the place is the ruins of a castle from the 11th-17th centuries. Century, first mentioned in 1192. Also worth seeing is the renaissance castle from 1648, which was built by the Luxembourg governor Johann Freiherr von Beck . The castle ruins can be visited in full, but the inhabited castle cannot.
There is also a neo-Gothic church from 1852 in the center of the village .
Other tourist attractions are the modern outdoor pool (open from May to August) and the ice rink (open from November to March). The floor area of 2,400 square meters has been covered with a covering made of light gray textile fabric to protect against the weather since autumn 2011.
Also known is the “The Flying Dutchman” discotheque in Beaufort, which mainly plays rock music.
