Beinn Mhanach

The Beinn Mhanach is a 953 meter high mountain in Scotland . Its Gaelic name means monk's mountain . Classified as Munro , the mountain is located in Perthshire on the north bank of Loch Lyon , about eight kilometers east of the small town of Bridge of Orchy .

The peak of the Beinn Mhanach

Compared to its western and northern neighbors such as the Beinn Dorain or the Beinn Achaladair , the Beinn Mhanach is a comparatively less conspicuous mountain, whose broad, round summit plateau only drops slightly steeper to the north with rocky parts. To the south, the mountain runs over heather and moorland with a moderate slope to the shore of Loch Lyon. The Beinn Mhanach has a 923 meter high Beinn a 'Chuirn to the west , which is only classified as a top due to its lack of independence. Due to the long access routes required from all directions and its unspectacular shape, the Beinn Mhanach is one of the rarely climbed Munros. Because of the surrounding higher mountains, it also has no special views from the summit.

There are approaches to the Bheinn Mhanach from all directions, but require long walks. The most popular approach with Munro excavators runs from the A82 halfway between Bridge of Orchy and Tyndrum to the east through Glen Auch and from the south to the summit. Another option leads from Achaladair Farm through Corrie Achaladair , located northwest between Beinn Achaladair and Beinn an Dòthaidh , and over a 640 meter high Bealach between Beinn Achaladair and Beinn a 'Chuirn to the main summit. Both approaches are about 10 kilometers long, the approaches from the east from Glen Lyon along Loch Lyon are significantly longer.
