Bel Air (Los Angeles)
Bel Air is a borough of Los Angeles that was founded in 1923 by Alphonzo Bell . The area is bordered to the east by Beverly Crest (separated by Beverly Glen Blvd), to the west by Brentwood ( San Diego Freeway ), to the south by Westwood and the UCLA campus ( Sunset Blvd ). Some of the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains also belong to Bel Air.
Bel Air is known as a posh residential area where many celebrities have their mansions. Therefore it is often referred to as part of the platinum triangle (along with Beverly Hills and Holmby Hills ). The area of Bel Air is hardly interesting for tourists. Although the area itself is freely accessible, freedom of movement is restricted by security guards in private houses.
The high income of the residents leads to loose development with relatively large plots of land. This is favored by the hilly landscape, which often leads to gaps between the areas that can be built on.
The fictional families of the popular television series The Prince of Bel Air and Hart but heartily live in this area. In addition, former US President Ronald Reagan lived in Bel Air with his wife, former First Lady , Nancy Reagan . He died there on June 5, 2004, and his wife died on March 6, 2016.
Demographics
In 2009, the population of Bel Air was 8,253. These live on an area of 15.5 km² and are on average 46 years old. A medium-sized household has an average annual income of $ 207,938. Half of all households have at least $ 125,000 a year. Bel Air's population is largely owner-occupied. Around 14.5% live in rental apartments.
