The Belbek ( Ukrainian and Russian Бельбек ) is a river to the Black Sea in the southwest of the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine .

The river has a length of 63 km and a catchment area of 505 km². With a flow rate of up to 3 m³ / second, it is the most water-rich river in the Crimea and has a gradient of 12.5 m / km.

Belbek

The Belbek arises from the source rivers Osenbasch ( Озенбаш ) and Manahotra ( Манаготра ) on the north-western slopes of the Aj-Petri in the Crimean Mountains , then flows in a north-westerly direction through the Bakhchysaray district until it reaches the urban area of Sevastopol . From there the Belbek flows to the west to flow into the Black Sea at Lyubymovka ( Любимовка ) 5 km north of the Sevastopol Bay .

A left tributary is the 18 km long Kokkoska ( Коккозка ) with a gradient of 50 m / km.

About 5 km north of the lower reaches of the Belbek, already in the urban area of Sevastopol, lies the city's only international airport, Sevastopol Airport , whose name is derived from that of the river.
