The Bella Flora Garden Center Ges.mbH (proper spelling bellaflora ) is the largest purely Austrian garden retail chain. The head office is in Leonding near Linz in Upper Austria .

The owner of the garden center chain is Hilde Umdasch from the family of the Lower Austrian formwork and shopfitting company Umdasch . Franz Koll has been Chairman of the Management Board as of July 2019 and Patricia Schweiger-Bodner has been Managing Director since 2018. The company belongs to the retail division .

Headquarters in Leonding

Bellaflora was founded by a regional tree nursery in Ennsdorf (Upper Austria). To this day, the company has mainly obtained plants from regional suppliers. The company came into being when Josef Umdasch, the father of the current owner Hilde Umdasch , took a stake in the tree nursery of a couple who were friends in Ennsdorf in the early 1970s and built a small sales hall there with his company. In 1978, the first small garden center after the At that time a new self-service principle was set up in the plant trade. The other original co-owners later got out.

In 1986 the first large Bellaflora garden center was built in Wels , Upper Austria . Further branches were opened in quick succession from the beginning of the 1990s. In 2001, the first Bellaflora branch in Germany was opened right next to the German Demmel orchid farm in Bad Aibling-Pullach ( Upper Bavaria ). The branch in Bavaria was leased to the Mertin garden center at the beginning of March 2010. In 2002 the company headquarters were moved from Linz to a new building in Leonding . Bellaflora has 27 branches in seven Austrian federal states.

In 2017 the company achieved net sales of EUR 83.3 million with around 500 employees. In addition to the garden centers of various hardware store chains, the largest competitor is the German garden center chain Dehner, which has also been represented in Austria since 1996 .
