action

The 16-year-old Prudence Friedmann is arrested after a shoplifting. The policewoman is irritated that Prudence is unable to provide a contact person: her father died in Canada because of an inheritance matter and her mother died two weeks ago. At the police station, Prudence meets Maryline, who is roughly the same age and is active in the motorcycle scene. She later visits Maryline in a bar and they both end the day in Prudence's apartment. Maryline invites her to an illegal bike race in Rungis for the evening and in return receives replacement keys for the apartment from Prudence. When they leave for Rungis, Prudence is watched by her older sister, who takes her to dinner with the strictly religious, Jewish family Cohen - Prudence's uncle and aunt. Here Prudence also meets her cousin Sonia, with whom she secretly escapes the house in the evening. She goes to Rungis, with Sonia turning around halfway. In Rungis, Prudence meets Maryline and experiences the atmosphere within the biker scene for the first time.

A few days later, Prudence gives a party in her apartment and irritates Sonia, who is critical of the failure to comply with the mourning period and does not understand why Prudence does not seem to miss her mother. The biker Reynald appears at the party, and Prudence finally tells him that her mother died 16 days ago. They both kiss and later drive around on the motorcycle. During the subsequent meal in a bistro, there is a dispute because Reynalds loses motorcycle oil and thus potentially endangers the biker behind him. In addition to Reynald and Gerard, there is also young Franck, who likes Prudence. During the subsequent detour to the sea, Franck gives the freezing Prudence his scarf.

Prudence see Franck at work to give him back his scarf. They both flirt with each other and get closer. Although Maryline warns Prudence that if she shows up too often, she will be considered an easy girl by the bikers, but Prudence ignores her advice. She meets Franck again at a concert and they both finally sleep together in his apartment. Franck disappeared the next morning. Prudence turns 17 and spends her evening with the bikers in the cinema. Because she is not doing well, she pretends to have to go to the bathroom during the performance. Franck goes after her and creates a scene for her because she really wants to go completely. He accuses her of only thinking about herself and breaks with her. Prudence is waiting for the bikers in front of the cinema, but Franck ignores them and instead takes another girl with him on his motorcycle. Prudence makes his way home alone. On the way she comes to an accident site: Franck has had an accident with his motorcycle, the body of his passenger is being covered. Prudence returns home in shock and breaks down crying when she thinks she sees her mother sitting in the kitchen. She cries for her who was hard of hearing during her lifetime. She later goes to her desk and takes her mother's hearing aid. She puts it in her ear on the balcony and turns up the volume.
