Belozem

Belozem ( Bulgarian Белозем , in English: White Earth ) is a village ( Selo ) in the municipality of Rakovsky in the Plovdiv Oblast in Bulgaria with 4091 inhabitants (2008).

The place is about 25 km east of Plovdiv and 10 km southeast of the city of Rakovsky .

Belozem has been a European stork village since 2005 . In 2004 25 breeding pairs were counted and in 2005 23 breeding pairs found food on the floodplains of the Mariza . With 14 couples as a breeding site, the local school is particularly popular.
