Čigoć [ ˈtʃiɡɔtɕ ] is a village in Posavina in Croatia . Čigoć has around 124 inhabitants and belongs to the municipality of Sisak . The village is located in the Lonjsko Polje Nature Park in Western Slavonia . The village on the Save plain is particularly known for its large stork population and was named the European stork village in 1994 .
The few inhabitants of Čigoć, mainly elderly, devote themselves to cattle breeding and traditional agriculture. Such management attracts numerous white storks, which then build their nests nearby.

Stork Festival: March 19th ( St. Joseph ) for the arrival of the storks. Every year at the end of June the festival Štrokovo (Stork Day) is celebrated as a reminder of the award of the title of European Stork Village .

Natural and cultural heritage
The extensive pastures, which are grazed with old domestic animal breeds adapted to the landscape, such as the Hrvatski Posavac horse breed, Turopolje pigs and the Slavonian gray cattle, are a unique natural and cultural heritage.
Today in Čigoć there are about 70 wooden houses in the style of the interesting architecture of the Posavina area, which are protected as cultural monuments. The entire village therefore represents an ethnological locality for the entire region.
