BenJarvus "Law Firm" Green-Ellis (born July 2, 1985 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is a former American American football player on the position of running back . He played for the New England Patriots and the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League (NFL).

High school and college

Green-Ellis attended St. Augustine High School and was chosen as running back to many regional selections. Before joining the University of Mississippi in 2005 , he played college football at Indiana University . In his first season he scored 938  run - yards and seven touchdowns . In his sophomore year, he played with Chris Taylor , who later was his teammate with the New England Patriots , and scored only 794 yards. In 2006 and 2007, Green-Ellis reached 2,137 yards and 13 touchdowns in Mississippi. He was also appointed to a national selection team.

NFL

New England Patriots

Despite these achievements, he was not selected in the NFL Draft and signed on May 31, 2008 a contract with the New England Patriots . He was released on August 30th and appointed to the Practice Squad on September 1st . After the team fired the wide receiver Maurice Price , Green-Ellis came into the active squad. Because of an injury to the actual starting running back, Laurence Maroney , Green-Ellis was in a game against the Denver Broncos starter on October 20 and scored 65 yards, he also ran a 1-yard touchdown. That same season he scored 105 yards in one game, his first 100-yard game. With the Patriots, Green-Ellis made it into the Super Bowl XLVI , which was lost at 17:21.

Cincinnati Bengals

In March 2012, he moved from the New England Patriots to the Cincinnati Bengals . Thus Green-Ellis ended his engagement in New England without causing a single fumble (in 551 Carries) . Green-Ellis fitted in well with the Bengals: even if he had to accept his first fumble in the NFL, he scored six touchdowns and a career high of 1,080 yards in the regular season .

Others

Green-Ellis owes its nickname “Law Firm” to its multi-part name, as “BenJarvus Green-Ellis” sounds like a legal firm called “Ben, Jarvus, Green & Ellis”.
