Benjamin Fredrick "Ben" Mankiewicz (born March 25, 1967 in Washington, DC ) is an American journalist, presenter and film critic.

Life

Mankiewicz comes from a family of creatives and journalists; he is the son of journalist Frank Mankiewicz, grandson of screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz , and great-nephew of director Joseph L. Mankiewicz . His older brother Josh Mankiewicz is a reporter for the American broadcaster NBC News .

He attended Georgetown Day High School, Tufts University, and Columbia University before starting his career as a radio host in Miami , Florida in the 1990s . At that time he befriended host Cenk Uygur , who later founded the Internet news channel The Young Turks . From 2008 to 2009 Mankiewicz hosted the television show At the Movies, made famous by Roger Ebert , together with Ben Lyons . Mankiewicz later became part of The Young Turks team and is among other things the producer and presenter of the film and series criticism segment What the Flick ?! active.

Since 2003 Mankiewicz has appeared as a presenter for the TV station Turner Classic Movies . Since the death of the former main presenter Robert Osborne in 2017, he has been the most important face of the station.

Private life

Mankiewicz has been married to Lee Russo since 2013, with whom he has a daughter.
