Career

After reading a newspaper ad advertising volleyball, Vollbrecht began his career at SC Eintracht Innova Berlin. As a member of this club, at the age of thirteen, he won the national cup for girls with the Berlin state selection. He then moved to Marzahner VC and later to SG Rotation Prenzlauer Berg , which was champion of the second division north in the 2003/04 season. The student then went to VC Olympia Berlin , which played in the first Bundesliga in the 2004/05 season . With the promoted Köpenicker SC , the middle blocker managed to stay in the top German division in the 2005/06 season . In 2006 the junior international moved to the Rote Raben Vilsbiburg . At Niederbayern he played one year in the first and two years in the second division. In 2009 he went to SV Lohhof . In the first season, the team was relegated with Vollbrecht from the Bundesliga , but then succeeded in the immediate promotion from the Second League South . In the following years Vollbrecht also worked as a trainer and in management in Lohhof. In the 2012/13 season he played for the second division team NawaRo Straubing and was temporarily active as a player-coach. Then he returned to SV Lohhof. There he initially strengthened the second women's team in the third division and from 2014 played again for the first team in the second division.

Ben Vollbrecht has played as a setter in the SV Lohhof regional league team since 2016.

Private

From 1993 to 1999 Vollbrecht attended the Zille elementary school in Berlin. He then spent two years at the Oberschule am Elsengrund before continuing his education at the Coubertin Gymnasium from 2001 to 2006. In the last two years of his stay in Vilsbiburg, he completed an apprenticeship as a sports and fitness clerk.

In 2013 Vollbrecht saw a TV report about transsexuals and came into contact with the Transmann association. As a result, he decided on gender reassignment , which he started in 2015. His name and civil status change has been official since 2016.
