The Beneš-Mráz Be-252 Beta-Scolar was a Czechoslovak trainer aircraft from the 1930s.

development

The Be-252 was derived by Pavel Beneš in 1937 from the Be-52 sports aircraft from 1936 as a training aircraft for advanced training, but was more robust due to the more powerful engine and, like its predecessor, designed to be aerobatic. The only built example with the registration OK – BEZ completed its maiden flight in the same year. In 1938, the Be-252C ( OK – OYA ), equipped with a closed cabin, appeared . It was after the German occupation of the test site Rechlin passed and tested there. Then it was probably sold to Sweden. At the beginning of 1939, Beneš planned an aircraft called the Be-352C , which, in addition to the closed cockpit , was to have a six-cylinder in - line Major 6 engine . The occupation of the country prevented a practical implementation.

construction

The Be-252 was a cantilever low-wing aircraft in wood construction with a square fuselage cross-section. The three-part wing had expanding flaps and contained a 50-liter fuel tank on each side. The tail unit was also self-supporting and made of wood. The main wheels of the undercarriage were aerodynamically clad and, like the rear wheel, not retractable.
