Benedict Hacker

Benedikt Hacker (born May 30, 1769 in Metten , † September 2, 1829 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian composer and music publisher.

Life

Hacker came to Salzburg in 1783, where he became a student of Michael Haydn . From 1786 he worked as a bookseller in Salzburg. In 1803 he opened his own music publisher, in which he a. a. published numerous works by Michael Haydn. He composed German masses, cantatas, songs and male choirs. He published the first Salzburg view series, the forerunners of the postcards. After the financial collapse of his publishing company, he committed suicide in the Salzach in 1829.
