Benedikt Hirschenauer

Benedikt Hirschenauer (born March 12, 1884 in Großthann ; † May 17, 1951 in Passau ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

Hirschenauer, who was of the Roman Catholic faith, completed an apprenticeship as a butcher after attending primary school. From 1913 he worked as an independent master butcher in Passau . In 1920 he was elected to the board of the Passau skin and fur utilization cooperative . From 1926 he was head master of the butchers' guild in Passau. From 1929 to 1933 he was President of the Lower Bavaria Chamber of Crafts . After the seizure of power of the Nazis , he was on 27 June 1933, " protective custody taken" and subsequently removed from his honorary posts. After he had already been appointed provisional president of the re-established Chamber of Crafts by the American occupying forces in June 1945, he was formally elected by the first plenary meeting of the chamber on April 8, 1946 and held this office until his death in 1951.

Hirschauer belonged in the Weimar Republic of the Bavarian People's Party on, for he 1930-1933 City Council in Passau was. After the Second World War he became involved in the CSU , for which he was again a member of the city council from April 1946. From 1946 to 1950 he was a member of the Bavarian state parliament , having previously been a member of the advisory state committee from February 26 to June 13, 1946.
