history

As a result of a change in the trade regulations , 63 chambers of crafts were formed in the German Reich on April 1, 1900 . In the Kingdom of Bavaria , a chamber of crafts was set up in each of the 8 districts. These included the Lower Bavaria Chamber of Crafts , based in Passau, and the Upper Palatinate and Regensburg Chamber of Crafts, based in Regensburg.

In 1942, the Chambers of Crafts and the Chambers of Industry and Commerce were abolished and merged into Gau chambers of commerce . The chambers of crafts in Lower Bavaria and Upper Palatinate became part of the Bayreuth Gauwirtschaftskammer. After the Second World War, the old craft chambers were restored.

On January 1, 1974, the two chambers merged into today's Chamber of Crafts Niederbayern-Oberpfalz.

tasks

The Chamber of Crafts is a corporation under public law that performs a variety of tasks for its members. These tasks are stipulated by law in the craft regulations.

The Chamber of Crafts represents the interests of its member companies and organizes the self-administration of the craft business group in the region. It is also a key service provider: it offers extensive training opportunities in its eleven training centers. Craft businesses can also take advantage of free advisory services.

The handicrafts in Eastern Bavaria are of particular economic importance. As a manufacturing trade and as a service provider, it covers the field between industry and consumers. Craft activities range from artistic craftsmanship to the serial production of products at a technically high level. With its 94 professions from optician to two-wheel mechanic, craft is the most versatile and the second strongest economic sector in the region.
