In the field of philosophy of science and metaphysics , Göcke's research focuses in particular on questions relating to the epistemological positioning of theology. Goecke's work deals with basic research on the theory of science, which tries to specify the concept of the scientific nature of human activities in order to sound out general structural features of research in the humanities and natural sciences and to develop a demarcation criterion to differentiate between sciences and pseudo-sciences. In addition, the specific conditions of denominational and scientific theology are examined on the basis of the theoretical foundations . The naturalistic and atheistic objections to the scientific nature of theology form a special focus.

In the field of transhumanism and the ethics of digitization , Göckes research concentrates on the one hand on analyzing the philosophical agenda of transhumanism and critically in dialogue with the neurosciences and the arguments against and for a cybernetic change in the biological nature of humans of philosophy. On the other hand, Gätze researches the religiously coded assumptions of the transhumanist agenda and its promises of salvation and examines to what extent elements of transhumanist thought can be supported from a Christian perspective, for example in the sense of process theology .

From a historical point of view, Göcke deals in particular with the philosophy of Karl Christian Friedrich Krause (1781–1832), which he regards in the context of “classical German philosophy”. Göck wants to show that Karl Christian Friedrich Krause's thinking was wrongly forgotten. From Goecke's point of view, Krause left behind the first consistently panentheistic system of philosophy, which as the philosophy of solitude of God and the world represents an all-encompassing metaphysical theory that unites all essential areas of philosophical thought. A serious examination of Krause's work shows that, thanks to its content orientation and argumentative safeguarding, it can be directly linked to numerous current discussions, such as in sustainability ethics , religious philosophy , anthropology and political philosophy .
