Benedikt Schmid (born November 19, 1990 in Waldkirchen ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Benedikt Schmid comes from the youth of TSV Waldkirchen . As a 16-year-old he played in the first team in the regional league and attracted attention with 16 goals this season. He then moved to the A-youth of SSV Jahn Regensburg . With eight goals in 26 games in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga , he also had a decent season. Then Schmid played for a year in the Bayern League at 1. FC Bad Kötzting , but in which he had to struggle with injury and a lack of fitness and could no longer prevent the club's relegation.

After he did his community service in Regensburg, Schmid returned to Jahn Regensburg in 2010 and joined the national league team. In the first year he scored twelve goals in 19 games, he missed the championship with the team by just one point and then also the promotion in the relegation game. After he had scored six goals in the first four games the following year, he was used for the first time in the first team in the 3rd division on August 17, 2011 and was allowed to make his professional debut in the final minutes. Shortly thereafter, however, a torn inner ligament forced him to take a break and it took until matchday 17 before further short appearances followed. He played four times in the season for the first team, which in the end made it to the 2nd Bundesliga in two relegation games . After the immediate relegation, Schmid was regularly used in the 3rd division and also scored his first two goals in professional football. His contract was then extended for another two years. Schmid has been playing for DJK Vilzing (Bayernliga) since 2015 .
