history
1921 to 1989
The club was founded on May 5, 1921 as 1. FC Kötzting eV. At the same time, the association was entered in the register of associations AG Kötzting No. 2. In the 1930/31 season 1. FC Kötzting rose to the A-class. 1951 one rose to the district league. Several descents and climbs followed. However, the 1. FC Kötzting never played higher than the regional league until 1990.
1990 until today
On May 26th, 1. FC Kötzting made it to the Landesliga Mitte on the last day of the match with a 4-1 home win against SV Winzer in front of 1200 spectators. The first local derby in the national league against local rivals 1. FC Miltach lost 1: 2 at home in front of 3700 spectators. In December, they first contacted the SKP Okula Nyrsko, a football club from the Czech Republic with which they still maintain a good friendship today. On February 3, 1991, the football club played a friendly against TSV 1860 Munich , which they lost 3-1 at Roten Steg. On July 13th they also played a friendly against the German record champions FC Bayern Munich , which they lost 1:11 in front of 6,000 spectators. Another friendly against a professional club completed the Kötztinger on June 18, 1996 against Wolverhampton Wanderers , who currently plays in the Premier League . On November 11, 1998, the BFV Honorary Award was presented to Heinrich Kuchler by the BFV President Heinrich Schmidhuber. In May 2000, 1. FC Kötzting was runner-up in the regional league- middle and only failed in the qualifying game against SpVgg Landshut on promotion to the Bayern league . In May 2004 1. FC Kötzting finally made it to the Bayern League . 1. FC Kötzting secured the championship with a heart-stopping final on the last match day in a remote duel with Quelle Fürth at SC Eltersdorf. Petr Stoilov made the greatest success in the club's history perfect with his 2-2 equalizer in the 88th minute. In the first two years in Bavaria's top division, FCK played with the front runners and was even 5th in the Bavarian League in the 2005/06 season. On May 12, 2006 it was renamed 1. FC Bad Kötzting 1921 eV After a catastrophic 2009/10 season, the relegation could not be prevented despite a change of coach. Since the 2010/11 season, FCK has been playing in the central regional league again. In the 2011/12 season they only narrowly failed to climb into the double-track Bayern League. However, this succeeded on the last match day of the 2013/14 season after a 5-1 against SC Ettmannsdorf . After a rather difficult season in the Bayernliga Süd, 1. FC Bad Kötzting finally relegated to the Landesliga Mitte again. This was extremely unfortunate: after four victories in a row at the end of the season, FCK had collected a solid 43 points, the last home game of the season they won 3-1 against Pullach. But with a goal from TSV Schwabmünchen in the 92nd minute, 1. FC Bad Kötzting slipped to 15th place in the last second, the Bayerwaldclub consequently had to go into relegation: Bad Kötzting still passed the first of two rounds, against the SpVgg Ansbach there was a 2-1 home and a 1-0 away win. Nevertheless, the team, now trained by coach Peter Gallmeier, had to relegate after losing 2-1 to ASV Burglengenfeld twice in round two. After the unfortunate relegation, 1. FC Bad Kötzting is now back in the Landesliga Mitte, where the first win of the season was celebrated in a 1-0 home win against TV Schierling on matchday 2. At the end of the 2015/2016 season, FCK was in third place and thus missed the return to the Bayern League. In the new 2016/2017 season, FCK is in third place after ten games and is one of the promotion favorites.
