history

From the Benedictine convent Notre-Dame du Calvaire founded in 1617 by Antoinette von Orléans-Longueville (1572-1618) in Poitiers , 19 foundations went from there, including 1625 Vendôme and 1638 (coming from the monastery La Crucifixion founded in 1634 in the Marais ) Orléans . Orléans and Vendôme, which were Jansenist until 1780 and 1783 respectively (caused by Françoise de Coëtquen 1676–1745), were dissolved by the French Revolution in 1792 , but could be repopulated in 1806 (Orléans) and 1815 (Vendôme). In 1956 Orléans moved to a new monastery in Saint-Jean-de-Braye , followed in 1960 by Vendôme. The convention, increasingly affected by the expansion of the community, decided to move out in 1991, which was completed in 1999. Was purchased north Sully-sur-Loire a monastery building in Bouzy-la-Forêt (east of the center on the Route de Mi-Feuillage ), which also has the advantage of less than 10 km from the Benedictine monastery of Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire to be removed . In 2002 nuns from the dissolved Kerbéniat monastery were added. The convent consists of 22 nuns. They produce a medicinal and mouthwash called Eau d'Émeraude (emerald water).
